Christmas Story

Mary the godmother gave birth to the lord Jesus. Since then we are celebrating the lord’s birthday as Christmas. The message was delivered by the angel to marry, that she was going to give birth to the Gods son. However she had to take a 90 mile journey to Bethlehem before she would give birth to child Christ. However on their arrival in town, they found that the inn that they were supposed to stay was already occupied by people returning from census that was conducted, for collecting tax. The innkeeper decided to give them shelter in a cave which he used for his pets and animals. This is where mother Mary gave birth to our holy lord.
Christmas is Celebrated Globally; it is celebrated as the birth day of the child Christ. This is done because the lord first arrived in this world. However the story of Christmas has many branches. Many experts have even suggested that Christmas was celebrated even when Christ hadn’t born. However it was celebrated by the Romans in a completely different manner. This period of year was winter, and in order to enjoy the long days they used eat, sing dance and be merry all day long. However it was later converted by the roman emperor Constantine to Christmas, this is how it became to be known as the Christian holiday. This way the birth of Christ was connected to the Roman empires saturnalia period and then celebrated as Christmas.
During the 17th and 18th Christmas saw a ban imposed on it. People around the world were unable to celebrate Christmas, especially in America and Europe. This was done by the puritan movement, as they thought that the birth of Christ was holy, as for its connection with saturnalia was regarded as blunder. However the times have changed now, and people around the world celebrate the Christmas.
